Ogier experts to speak at Legal Week International Private Client Forum

News

04 November 2019

Jersey, Cayman Islands

Ogier partners, Rachael Reynolds and James Campbell, will speak at the Legal Week International Private Client Forum 2019 for the world's leading private client lawyers in Lake Como next week.

The two-day conference, which is sponsored by Ogier, will explore topical issues faced by clients and practitioners, and will discuss the latest developments in the private client and trust industry.

On day one of the conference, Partner and Global Head of Dispute Resolution, Rachael Reynolds joins the panel "Hide and Seek: Gathering (and protecting) information in international trust litigation" providing a multi-jurisdictional analysis of information gathering tactics and procedures, legal privilege, discovery and enforcement. The case study will consider how to go about tracking down, on the one hand, and protecting, on the other, information about offshore trusts.

On day two, Partner and Global Head of Private Wealth James Campbell co-presents a breakout session examining "The role of asset holding structures and nuptial agreements in the cross-border divorce world". Divorce represents a very real risk to family wealth and this session will consider how to establish a truly dynastic structure with the aim of protecting trust assets from divorce to include consideration of issues around the drafting of trusts and letters of wishes as well as consideration of current trends in the use of nuptial agreements. The session will also consider the pitfalls around the practical administration of trusts to ensure trust assets are not considered to be a resource of one party to a marriage.

Rachael and James said: "We are delighted to be sponsoring the International Private Client Forum which is one of the leading conferences for private client professionals to connect and discuss recent developments in the industry. It brings together the very best in the field, and is always a highly interactive conference due to the wealth of experience of the attendees".

Partner Josephine Howe will also attend the conference.

The conference will take place at Ville d'Este in Lake Como, Italy on 14-16 November.
