Ogier has promoted investment funds specialist Dominic Athwal to partner in its Dubai office, underscoring the firm’s continued investment in the Middle East as a strategic growth market and reinforcing its ability to provide market‑leading funds advice from the UAE.

Dominic's promotion reflects his significant contribution to Ogier, advising fund sponsors, managers and institutional investors on the establishment and ongoing operation of investment funds with a strong Middle East nexus.

Ogier's Global Head of Funds, Joanne Huckle, said: “Dominic is a trusted adviser to clients operating in increasingly complex global markets and has been instrumental in building our funds capability in Dubai. His considerable technical experience, commercial approach and commitment to teamwork make him an excellent addition to our partnership.”

Dominic added: “Our clients in Dubai are increasingly active across multiple jurisdictions and they value the ability to access high quality legal advice that is coordinated on a global basis. Ogier’s integrated legal platform, working alongside our corporate and fiduciary division Ogier Global, allows us to support clients seamlessly as their funds, structures and investors span borders. That joined‑up approach is central to our client offering in the DIFC, and I am excited to continue building the practice as part of the partnership.”

Ogier’s Dubai team works seamlessly with colleagues across Europe, the Caribbean and Asia-Pacific. Delivering coordinated, multi jurisdictional advice to financial institutions, asset managers, sovereign and quasi-sovereign entities, family offices and corporates, Ogier advises on the laws of the BVI ,Cayman Islands, Guernsey, Ireland, Jersey, Luxembourg and, most recently, Bermuda through its association with MJM.

“Dubai continues to play a key role as a coordination hub for multi‑jurisdictional work across the firm. The strength and development of the GCC, combined with our international and offshore capabilities, support increasingly complex client mandates. Dominic’s promotion and reflects the continued growth of the practice,” said Dubai practice partner David Welford.
