It will be all hands on deck at Jersey’s Maritime Museum next week, when Griffin Historical’s motley bunch of pirates drop anchor, just in time for February half term.
Sponsored by Ogier, Jersey Heritage’s event "Pirates" will provide five days of action-packed, swashbuckling family entertainment and marauding mayhem at the Maritime Museum from 16 – 20 February.
Kate Kirk, Ogier’s Marketing Director, said: “We’re thrilled to launch Ogier and Jersey Heritage’s 2026 Community Events programme with the return of ‘Pirates’ this February half term. It provides a fantastic opportunity for families to dive into adventure together while discovering more about our island’s history. Events like this spark curiosity, encourage hands-on learning and create memorable moments for the younger generation. We’re proud to continue our partnership with Jersey Heritage and can’t wait to see families set sail on another year of fun.”
After two years of sailing on the high seas, the pirate crew from Griffin Historical are coming ashore again to share thrilling tales of daring deeds and roaring cannons and entice youngsters to join their crew during the school holidays.
Nicky Lucas, Jersey Heritage’s Community Events Curator, said: “Pirates at the Maritime Museum is one of our most popular community events and promises to be five days of unforgettable pirate-packed family fun. The Maritime Museum will be transformed into a pirate stronghold and would-be pirates will be able to climb onboard to hear thrilling tales, hunt for treasure, get creative and prepare themselves for an epic live-action battle.
“All the would-be pirates need to do is grab their courage, sharpen their (imaginary) cutlasses and join us for a half term adventure that promises to be loud, lively and legendary!”
Griffin Historical holds events for Historical Royal Palaces and English Heritage, publishes books on piracy and also works in the film and TV industry, even appearing in “Pirates of the Caribbean”.
The pirate crew is once again led by Griff, who said: “We’ve been coming to Jersey since 1992 and it’s always great to see faces old and new at the Maritime Museum – it’s one of our favourites. It’s packed full of information and activities for all ages and well worth a visit. Pop along to the Maritime Museum and don’t forget to bring your parrot, eyepatch and cutlass!”
The sessions will run from 10:00 - 16:00 each day during February half term. Entry is free for Jersey Heritage members and children under the age of six.
