Structured finance specialist Nick Ward has joined Ogier in the Cayman Islands as counsel, strengthening the firm’s fast growing structured finance capability across Cayman and Ireland.
An experienced transactional lawyer, Nick advises issuers, arrangers, collateral managers and investors across the full lifecycle of CLOs and other sophisticated structured finance and off-balance sheet transactions. He also has significant experience advising on structured product issuances, note programmes, repackagings and other bespoke financing structures, as well as assisting issuers with listings on the Cayman Islands Stock Exchange.
Nick's practice also spans fund financing, acting for both lenders and borrowers. Drawing on his multi-disciplinary experience, he advises hedge and private equity funds, banks, pension funds, insurers and corporates on a wide spectrum of trading, hedging and financing transactions, security and prime brokerage arrangements and investment management-matters.
As part of Ogier’s Restructuring and Insolvency team, Nick brings valuable experience representing ad hoc bondholder groups in non‑contentious restructurings involving Cayman Islands vehicles. He is a member of RISA’s Marketing and Communication Committee, reflecting his active engagement in the jurisdiction’s professional community.
Cayman Islands Banking and Finance partner James Heinicke said: "Nick’s arrival further reinforces Ogier’s investment in specialist structured finance and financing expertise. His skillset strongly complements the work of our high performing Cayman Banking and Finance team. Together, we continue to ensure our clients receive responsive and commercially driven advice across the full spectrum of Cayman Islands finance matters."
Ogier’s dedicated Banking and Finance team in the Cayman Islands is recognised by leading legal directories for its outstanding expertise across fund finance (including its CAYLUX fund finance services), structured finance and restructuring matters.
Backed by Ogier’s long‑established team in the Cayman Islands – including 23 partners across investment, dispute resolution, corporate and commercial, banking and finance, restructuring and insolvency, trust and private wealth – the team is a trusted adviser to leading global financial institutions and international law firms.
