Responsive and commercial Hong Kong team wins praise in Chambers directory for 2021

Responsiveness and commerciality remain central to clients' praise for Ogier's service in the newly released Chambers Asia Pacific 2021.

Ogier has retained its position overall in the region and a number of the firm's leading individuals are named as notable practitioners.

With a diverse practice offering expertise in Cayman, BVI, Channel Islands and Luxembourg law, Chambers notes that Ogier "distinguishes itself through its North Asia focus, innovative investment funds and private equity work, and well-regarded litigation team," adding that the team "counsels high net worth individuals and families throughout Asia on private wealth matters, assisting with trusts, foundations and family governance issues."

The firm's newly appointed Head of ESG Funds, partner Kate Hodson, is noted for her skilled work with funds mandates, often handling private equity, venture capital and hedge fund formation and investments. Kate is now spearheading the newly created ESG and Impact Advisory Service offered by Ogier.

Global head Corporate Nathan Powell is well regarded for his broad expertise in the corporate and finance sphere, offering BVI and Cayman law advice on debt capital markets, IPOs and financing matters. Client feedback praises Nathan as "very practical and client-oriented, providing practical solutions."

Banking and Finance partner Anthony Oakes, who heads the team that Chambers notes provides an "accomplished banking and finance offering" is frequently engaged on debt capital markets, structured financing and asset financing work under BVI and Cayman Islands laws and is described as "a go-to person…very responsive and very commercial, and has a great sense of collaboration."

Practice Partner Nicholas Plowman leads Ogier's Investment Funds practice in Asia.
