Alan Au

Alan is a consultant in Ogier's Corporate team in Hong Kong.

Alan has extensive experience in advising bulge bracket investment banks and multi-national companies on capital markets and securities transactions including initial public offerings (IPOs), SPACs and de-SPACs, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, restructuring, privatisation and regulatory matters. He also has a strong science and pharmaceutical background and is particularly involved in the healthcare and biotech sectors.

Background and experience

Alan rejoined Ogier's Hong Kong office from another offshore law firm where he served as a corporate partner. Prior to joining Ogier, he worked at Fangda Partners, Shearman & Sterling, Sidley Austin, Bird & Bird and Robertsons. Before pursuing his legal profession, Alan spent more than three years working at GlaxoSmithKline and Stiefel Laboratories as a medical sales executive.

Alan attained his Bachelor of Law from The University of London. He also attained his Master of Laws in Corporate and Financial Law and Postgraduate Certificate in Laws from The University of Hong Kong. In addition, he also attained his Bachelor of Science majoring in cell biology and genetics from The University of British Columbia. Alan was named as China Business Law Journal A-List Rising Star 2023-2024 and LexisNexis 40 under 40 2023.

Alan is fluent in Cantonese, English and Mandarin.

• YOOV on its proposed US$250 million reverse merger and listing on NASDAQ

• AAG Energy Holdings Limited on its US$347 million privatisation

• Helens International Holdings Company Limited on its secondary listing by way of introduction on the Main Board of the Singapore Exchange

•  Kazakh Steel Plc on its dual primary listing on the HKEx and the Astana International Exchange Ltd

• JW (Cayman) Therapeutics Co.
