Alastair is a partner in Ogier’s Cayman Islands office and a member of the Regulatory team and the Technology and Web3 team.
Alastair is regularly instructed on registration, licensing and change of control applications, inspections and filings with Cayman authorities including the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority, cross-border conduct of business, corporate governance and ongoing compliance with key regimes including FATCA, CRS and CARF, AML and sanctions, economic substance, data protection and beneficial ownership.
He also regularly advises on the structuring, establishment and ongoing operations of foundation companies for crypto and private wealth applications, virtual asset service providers and fintech businesses of all kinds.
Alastair takes part in developing regulatory policy and industry practice by participating in industry working groups, commenting on consultation drafts of legislation and regulatory measures, contributing to articles and speaking at conferences.
Prior to joining Ogier, Alastair worked in the regulatory and investment funds teams of another international firm in the Cayman Islands for seven years. Before that, he specialised in mergers and acquisitions, capital raisings and corporate advisory at a large domestic firm in Australia.
