Emily is a managing associate in Ogier's Dispute Resolution team, based in the BVI. Her practice covers multiple high-value, cross-border disputes, including company and shareholder disputes, enforcement, cryptocurrency / digital asset-related disputes, and contentious insolvency and restructuring proceedings.

Background and experience

Emily joined Ogier in 2022. Based in Ogier's BVI office, Emily's practice incorporates a variety of core commercial dispute work, together with a broad range of insolvency and restructuring matters.

Emily was a key part of the Ogier team who successfully brought proceedings for negative declaratory relief against Joint Liquidators on behalf of Mr Abdul-Massih and the Ancile Companies, having previously contested various interlocutory applications brought in the same proceedings. In a separate limb of the broader dispute, Emily has also been involved in Mr Abdul-Massih's appeal of a first instance judgment to the Eastern Caribbean Court of Appeal. Emily is currently acting for the Joint Liquidators of cryptocurrency hedge fund Three Arrows Capital Ltd in their multi-billion dollar claims against the founders and former directors of the company for the recovery of debt and insolvent/misfeasant trading.

Emily qualified as a Solicitor Advocate in the BVI in 2024. She has since appeared as sole advocate before the BVI High Court (Commercial Division) in applications for default judgment applications, contested restoration applications, and applications to be removed from the Court. Emily also frequently supports leading counsel in both the BVI High Court and the Eastern Caribbean Court of Appeal, including in respect of urgent interim relief including proprietary and freezing injunctions, stay applications and Norwich Pharmacal orders.

Prior to joining Ogier, Emily worked as part of the commercial litigation team for an onshore law firm. During this time, she gained experience in commercial disputes and was also seconded to the London Commercial Court where she worked as a judicial assistant to Mr Justice Butcher over the Easter and Trinity terms in 2022. Emily was also involved in judicial review proceedings before the London Administrative Court, and in the UK public inquiry into the Grenfell Tower tragedy.
