George is a senior associate in Ogier Guernsey's Corporate and Funds team based in our London office. George has extensive experience advising on a broad range of investment fund, corporate and regulatory compliance matters, with a particular focus on private equity, venture capital and hedge funds.

Background and experience

George specialises in the area of investment funds and has advised leading hedge fund managers, private equity sponsors, financial institutions and family offices on the structuring, formation, launch, operation, initial and ongoing regulatory compliance and restructuring of alternative investment funds and their affiliated vehicles. He has significant experience advising clients in relation to a wide variety of open-ended and closed-ended investment fund matters, including the establishment and launch of numerous multi-jurisdictional master-feeder fund structures.

George also advises clients in relation to investment fund-related regulatory and corporate matters. He has considerable experience advising on the regulatory compliance obligations applicable to fund managers, investment funds and affiliated vehicles in offshore jurisdictions, including registration and licensing with the relevant financial services regulator, offering document disclosures, AML/CFT, economic substance, AEOI, data protection, beneficial ownership and corporate governance considerations.

His broader practice experience includes advising private equity sponsors, financial institutions and corporate clients (both start-ups and established companies) on a wide range of corporate, commercial and financing transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, lending and security transactions and venture capital financings.

Prior to joining Ogier, George practised as an associate in the investment funds and corporate teams of other market leading offshore law firms in London where he specialised in Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands investment funds. He previously practised as a corporate associate at Latham & Watkins in London, where he advised on private equity, mergers and acquisitions and general corporate matters. Prior to that, George completed his training contract at Latham & Watkins and qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in September 2018.

George received his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Newcastle University in 2015. He graduated with First-Class Honours and was awarded ten university prizes for academic achievement, including the Thomas Penman Prize for the best performing undergraduate across all schools and facilities of the university. He completed the Legal Practice Course with Distinction from BPP University in London in 2016.
