Background and experience
Clients have said that Matthew “gives you confidence and doesn't get immersed in the legal weeds; he delivers the key issues and messages we need to consider” (Chambers & Partners).
Since moving to Jersey Matthew has advised on many of the transactions that have changed the landscape of the Jersey fiduciary sector. He has particular experience in acting for bidders or sellers in auction transactions, coordinating multijurisdictional teams and advising on the regulatory challenges that such transactions can present.
Matthew joined Ogier in May 2015 and is a partner in the corporate and investment funds teams. He qualified in England and Wales (currently non-practising) at a City firm in 1997 and moved to Jersey from K&L Gates in 2006. Before joining Ogier, Matthew practiced at another leading law firm in Jersey.
Matthew was seconded to HSBC Channel Islands and Isle of Man for the second half of 2016 as temporary General Counsel.
