Michael Ogilvy Watson

Michael is an associate in the Dispute Resolution team, based in Jersey. He has broad experience of disputes involving individuals, estates, companies and trusts, and was shortlisted for a Jersey Finance Rising Star award in 2025. 

Background and experience

Michael joined Ogier in 2019, first working in the Hong Kong office. He was called to the English and Welsh Bar (Middle Temple) in 2019, qualified as an English solicitor in March 2023 and was called to the Jersey Bar in December 2025. 

Since relocating to Jersey, Michael has played a key role in the Dispute Resolution team's highest profile and most complex cases, including one of the most significant pieces of trust litigation to come before the Royal Court, and cases involving some rarely-tested areas of Jersey law, such as misfeasance in public office and the applicability of international sanctions.
 
Michael is a graduate of the Universities of Southampton and Amsterdam (Masters) and London City Law School, where he attained his LLB. He has also undertaken professional exams as a barrister (BPTC) and as a solicitor (LPC).
 
Michael’s interests include marathon running and the history of the Channel Islands.
