Michaela is a member in Ogier’s Dispute Resolution team, has strong experience acting for clients in complex contentious litigation and insolvency matters, and non-contentious restructurings and take privates, including those involving schemes of arrangement.
Michaela has more than 10 years of experience in BVI and Cayman Islands law, acting for shareholders, directors, limited and general partners, creditors and large listed companies in Hong Kong across a broad range of litigation, insolvency and restructuring matters.

Background and experience
On the shareholder litigation side, Michaela played a significant role in the first wave of merger dissent cases, acting for dissenting shareholders, and has more recently acted for companies who are the subject of merger dissent cases. She has also acted for majority shareholders in defending just and equitable winding up applications.
Michaela has worked on a number of landmark contentious funds matters, including the first contested case involving the appointment of receivers over a segregated portfolio that went on appeal to the Cayman Islands Court of Appeal and the first contested case involving an application to remove a general partner under section 11 of the Exempted Limited Partnership Act, which was also the subject of an appeal.
Michaela’s contentious insolvency experience includes successful applications for provisional liquidators and liquidators in the BVI involving complex unauthorised transfers of assets in the PRC and her non-contentious restructuring experience includes a successful Cayman scheme of arrangement involving a listed company in Hong Kong.
On the “front end”, Michaela also works closely with Ogier’s transactional teams (Banking and Finance, Corporate and Investment Funds) advising clients on litigation and insolvency risk, including drafting provisions within the transactional documents.
Prior to joining Ogier in 2025, Michaela spent a number of years at two offshore firms in Hong Kong.
Michaela began her legal career at Clayton Utz in Sydney, Australia prior to moving to Hong Kong. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degrees at the University of New South Wales.
