Diversity and Inclusion
Diversity and Inclusion is an integral part of Ogier's purpose and vision. We want to lead our sector in this area and, in doing so, become the employer and advisor of choice. Sponsored by Global Managing Partner Edward Mackereth, the mission of our D&I initiative is to create an inclusive and respectful environment where every one of our employees can thrive. We have a dedicated Group D&I Manager and have also appointed Christina Blacklaws, a best-selling author and champion of D&I, access to justice, mental health and wellbeing among other areas, on to our Executive Board as a NED. Over 50 of our team have signed up to be Diversity and Inclusion Leaders in their jurisdictions.
We are clear that our work in this area needs to be expansive and, importantly, bring about tangible results. We are holding focus groups on different topics and broadening our approach to business development to ensure equal opportunities for our employees, alongside delivering a whole range of initiatives to promote the values of D&I, including a wellbeing, diversity and inclusion calendar of themes and events, a roll-out of inclusivity awareness training, assessing job adverts from a D&I perspective, and providing additional D&I training for hiring managers.
We have made a commitment to reach 30% female leadership by 2025 and 40:40:20 (40% female, 40% male and 20% either female, male or non-binary) by 2030.

Ogier is on an environmental sustainability journey. Our goal is for green to be embedded in our culture and for environmental sustainability to permeate our business at every level. With an environmental policy in place, the firm is optimising and adapting all aspects of our business with an environmentally sustainable mind-set, integrating environmental sustainability considerations into our business and procurement decisions. Key for Ogier is how we are held to account. Reporting on environmental sustainability is not an exact science and so we are continuing to work internally and with consultants to get it right.
With a new Environmental and Sustainability Manager overseeing and assisting with the implementation of this process we are also engaging with ESG consultancy firms on our environmental strategy.
Ogier and our community
Ogier is committed to supporting its local communities. We support those communities in a variety of ways – through pro bono work, through donations, and through volunteering as a firm, in teams, and as individuals.
Our aim is to give something back and to encourage our people to participate in local initiatives.
A focus on education
As a firm, we take pride in our investment in skills, training and helping our people to achieve everything that they can. That core belief forms the backbone of our CSR programme, which supports projects and causes related to education across all of our jurisdictions.

Running, walking, baking, mentoring, climbing, swimming – many of Ogier's team actively support fundraising through personal challenges. We commit to giving their charitable efforts a boost with financial support available to every employee in every jurisdiction who wants to help a local good cause.
We actively encourage all of our people to provide their time to support causes and charities, offering days off to volunteer on an individual or team basis, to help local organisations. Everyone in the firm – including our most senior partners – gets involved in all manner of volunteering activities from clearing ponds to lessons in reading, and from repainting old monuments to cleaning beaches.
