Ogier Jersey and Guernsey have advised Shell on the sale of its Channel Islands Fuel Supply business to Rubis, a French oil and gas storage distributions company.

The deal comprises the sale of a network of 27 retail service stations, commercial fuels and heating oil operations and associated services in both islands. The acquisition, at just under £20 million, is subject to the approval of the Jersey Competition Regulatory Authority.

Partner Chris Byrne, who led the team in Jersey, said: “We are delighted to have worked with Shell on the disposal of their fuel supply business. This transaction involved close co-operation between our Jersey and Guernsey offices, and over 20 lawyers providing specialist property, tax, corporate, environmental, employment and competition advice.”

Other team members in Jersey included Nathan Powell, Huw Thomas, Peter Bertram and Jonathan Hughes. In Guernsey, partner Roger Le Tissier headed up the team, which included Nicholas Taitz, Charisma Lyall and Cerisse Redstone.
