Ogier's Guernsey corporate, funds and finance teams have advised Aboria Capital on the £165 million acquisition of a portfolio of five purpose-built student accommodation assets from HSBC Asset Management.
The deal is thought to be one of the largest completed acquisitions in the sector this year.
The purchase of The Railyard in Cambridge, The View in Newcastle, The Lyra in Acton, London and The Arch and The Electra both in Liverpool adds 1,570 beds to Aboria Capital's real estate portfolio.
The transaction marks Aboria's first acquisition since the platform was launched in partnership with Downing, one of the UK's largest privately owned property businesses and an early pioneer in the purpose-built student accommodation sector.
The Ogier team advised on all Guernsey law aspects of the acquisition and was led by partners Richard Sharp and Bryon Rees, with support from senior associate Diana Collas, associates Amy Parker and Finley Piper and paralegal Ashlea Graham. Ogier worked closely with lead English counsel Ashurst Perkins Coie.
Richard Sharp said: "Congratulations to the Aboria team and their investment partners. We are delighted to have supported them with the acquisition of this first portfolio and are sure it will be the first of many."
