Ogier in Guernsey advises on MidEuropa sale of Optegra

Ogier's corporate and funds team in Guernsey has advised MidEuropa on the sale of leading European ophthalmology platform Optegra to EssilorLuxottica.

EssilorLuxottica is a global manufacturer and distributor of advanced vision care products, eyewear and med-tech solutions. MidEuropa is a leading private equity firm in central Europe, spanning more than 25 years in the market and having raised more than €6.8billion in funds since inception.

The Optegra group, under the Optegra, Lexum and Iris brands, operates more than 70 eye hospitals and diagnostic facilities across Europe, which offer medically necessary ophthalmic treatments and elective vision correction.

MidEuropa's sale of Optegra is part of a series of ground-breaking exits in the healthcare sector for the firm this year. As a result of these strategic exits, it is expected that MidEuropa will deliver a record year of realised returns to its investors.

The Ogier team advised on all Guernsey law matters related to the sale and worked with the lead onshore counsel for MidEuropa, White & Case LLP. The team was led by partner Bryon Rees, managing associate Michelle Watson Bunn and associate Antoaneta Shikerova.
