The 2020 STEP Canada Conference has been converted to a virtual seminar series that will run this fall from September 15 - November 26. 

On Tuesday, 3 November, Ogier Partner Anthony Partridge will join the panel titled "From STAR Trusts to Dynastic Trusts: Is Foreign Personal Planning Still an Option for Canadians?" 

Following the amendments to the non-resident trust rules and the elimination of five-year immigration trusts, many planners have concluded that foreign personal planning in no longer feasible. The panel will examine foreign personal planning that may be advantageous and the pitfalls that may exist in the USA and Canada.
