Islanders and visitors alike are invited to join Jersey Heritage this December to get into the festive spirit and celebrate Christmas.

Ogier is delighted to sponsor two key events in Jersey Heritage's festive programme, which includes a special two-day event at Hamptonne Country Life Museum for families to discover the traditions of Christmases past. The programme of events will also feature craft activities and trails at Jersey Museum, Art Gallery and Victorian House.

Kate Kirk, Ogier's marketing director, said: "We'd love to see lots of people come and join the excitement at Jersey's Heritage and Ogier's two Christmas events this year – the 'Tree Dressing Day' and 'Old Fashioned Christmas' – to make memories and be part of our Island's story. As a community we have such a rich history and Jersey Heritage are brilliant at helping people of all ages engage with it, and have great fun at the same time, whether it's pirates, cider or marking the changing seasons."

To kick off the festivities, islanders can head to Hamptonne Country Life Museum on Saturday 2 December for 'Tree Dressing Day'. This winter warmer event celebrates the trees in the orchard ahead of the January Wassail and reflects on the social and cultural history of the local area and the role trees have played in shaping history.

Closer to the start of the Christmas holidays is 'Old Fashioned Christmas'. Put aside to do lists and experience a traditional Christmas at Hamptonne Country Life Museum over the weekend 16-17 December. Dating back to the 15th century, the house and farm buildings will be brought to life by larger than life characters, traditions and stories that will transport visitors back in time to Christmases of days gone by.

Nicky Lucas, Jersey Heritage’s Community Events Curator, said: “Christmas is one of our favourite times of the year at Jersey Heritage. We love to look back at how festive traditions were formed and enjoyed and find new ways for people to explore them and have fun in the run-up to the big day. Visitors may even find old St Nick warming his boots by the fire!"

In addition to the specially organised Christmas activities, all the Jersey Heritage visitor sites (with the exception of Elizabeth Castle) are open daily from 10am - 4pm.

Visitors will be able to purchase mince pies, mulled wine and other festive drinks, including Christmas Pudding Lattes and Black Forest Mochas, at the Hamptonne Country Life Museum and Mont Orgueil Castle cafes. A special festive menu is also available at La Hougue Bie Tearooms, which is run by Beresford Street Kitchen.
