Ogier's Latin America practice has been ranked "Highly Recommended" across Banking and Finance, Corporate and M&A, Restructuring and Insolvency and Private Equity in the Latin Lawyer 250 2027 guide, underscoring the firm’s leading reputation for cross-border work in the region.
With nine lawyers recognised across four practice areas, Ogier is the only firm in its category to achieve this breadth and depth of recognition.
The result follows Ogier’s strong performance in the LACCA Approved 2026 rankings, which named it as the leading choice among Latin American general counsel with five LACCA Approved lawyers.Â
The guide commends Ogier's "distinguished reputation" and "multidisciplinary approach", recognising a practice that has built on its longstanding Brazilian relationships and investment funds work to now support businesses, investors and financial institutions across a wide range of legal and transactional matters. Â
It also describes the firm’s private wealth specialists as "industry experts", reflecting Ogier’s work with investment managers, high-net-worth individuals and family offices.  Â
"We are pleased to see the performance of our Latin America practice recognised across multiple disciplines. What began as a practice widely regarded for its strength in investment funds has evolved alongside our clients’ needs, bringing together specialists from across Ogier’s global network to advise on complex cross-border transactions, investments and restructurings involving Latin America,” said Thomaz Monteiro, Ogier's head of client development for Latin America.
Latin Lawyer highlights the leadership of Latin America practice co-heads Giorgio Subiotto and Tim Cone, citing their complementary expertise and the practice’s combination of regional knowledge and international reach. It notes Giorgio’s deep understanding of the Brazilian market and long-standing client relationships, alongside Tim’s prominence among general counsel, particularly in private equity, building on his recognition in the latest LACCA Approved rankings, where he was again identified as the leading choice among general counsel.Â
Other partners singled out include James Heinicke, praised for his expertise in fund finance, restructurings and complex cross-border transactions, and Marie-Claire Fudge, recognised for her experience advising on investment funds and regulatory matters. Bradley Kruger is noted for his capital markets and IPO work and Graeme Loarridge for his expertise in the establishment and operation of offshore investment vehicles. Brian Lacy is recognised for his role in complex restructuring and insolvency matters, while senior associates Catherine Collins and Alexandra Jones are identified as rising talent. Â
Ogier's "talented" fund finance team is recognised for its experience advising on "sophisticated and complex" vehicle structures in Brazilian fintech transactions and its relationship with Brazil's most prominent investment managers. Â
The rankings also highlight the firm's work on significant financing mandates, including acting for longstanding client Banco BTG Pactual, one of the largest investment banks in Latin America, on its US$750 million notes issuance.Â
Latin Lawyer 250 points to Ogier's expertise on complex cross-border transactions involving Latin American parties, particularly in fintech, digital assets and other high-growth sectors. According to the guide, Ogier has "made a name for itself" in the Latin American SPAC market, reflecting the firm's prominence across the region's evolving transactional landscape.
Latin Lawyer 250 praises Ogier's "multidisciplinary approach to restructuring matters", with the ranking highlighting the team's ability to combine transactional and disputes expertise to support clients on complex restructuring mandates. This approach is also reflected in client praise for Ogier's "creative and collaborative approach to developing novel and tailor-made solutions and strategies".
Ogier is highly recommended for private equity, with the guide noting its work for Latin American investors, asset managers and pension funds on their international transactions. Award-winning examples of work include advising Compass Group’s business combination with Vinci Partners, which was named Private Equity Deal of the Year at the Latin Lawyer Awards 2025.Â
