Ogier has donated $3,200 to the Alzheimer's and Dementia Association of the Cayman Islands (ADACI).

The donation was made possible thanks to the many Ogier employees who give to the firm's charitable fund on a monthly basis directly from their salaries.

The donation will support ADACI's pilot SAT tracker programme. The pilot scheme will provide tracker devices to ten Alzheimer and Dementia patients who have a history of wandering from home and getting lost. Trackers are monitored by local security company The Security Centre and an alarm is triggered if a patient goes outside a defined area.

The ADACI was one of the top charities selected by Ogier employees.

Partner Giorgio Subiotto said: "Ogier is committed to supporting local causes in a number of ways, including our Corporate Social Responsibility programme, but this particular donation came from our charitable giving funds that are collected entirely from the many Ogier employees who give on a monthly basis."

"We hope that, by supporting the SAT tracker programme we can make a positive impact in the lives of those in Cayman affected by this disease."

Associate Cline Glidden said: "We are pleased to support ADACI, a local charity that provides an invaluable service to people living with Alzheimer's and Dementia in the Cayman Islands."

Chairperson of ADACI, Dorothy Davis, said: "The Sat Trak device is perfect for persons living with dementia. There are many benefits in family members obtaining a Sat Trak such as reduced stress and anxiety over loved ones wandering away from home and possibly getting lost. It also promotes a level of independence for the person with dementia.

"ADACI is extremely pleased to have Ogier sponsor this community initiative."
