Ogier in the BVI maintains top-tier rankings for the sixth consecutive year in Chambers Global

Ogier’s teams in the BVI have maintained their top-tier rankings for the sixth consecutive year in the Chambers Global 2026 guide.

The “first-class” Dispute Resolution team were praised alongside Ogier’s “excellent” Corporate and Finance, including Investment Funds, teams.

The Chambers Global 2026 rankings include recognition for seven members of its litigation and transactional teams.

Recognition for Ogier’s top-tier Corporate, Finance and Investment Funds practices in the BVI

According to client feedback, for corporate, finance and investment funds matters, Ogier “stands out for its deep expertise in BVI law, offering practical and commercially focused advice which is tailored to international clients”. The team “consistently respond promptly, even under tight deadlines” and their “commitment to client service is truly commendable”.

The “highly experienced, commercially aware and technically outstanding” Michael Killourhy has been promoted to Band 1 in the rankings. Michael, who is the head of Ogier’s BVI Corporate, Finance and Investment Funds teams, is described by clients as "highly knowledgeable, responsive and a pleasure to work with. He is a strong performer”.

The team is also supported by Simon Schilder who is ranked and noted for his “expertise based abroad”.  

Recognition for Ogier’s top-tier BVI Dispute Resolution team 

One of the largest in the region, Ogier’s Dispute Resolution team in the BVI is highlighted as the “go-to team for professional insolvency practitioners, accountancy firms and large corporates”. The “superb” team “are very experienced in substantial multi-jurisdictional disputes”.

The top-tier team also draws on experts across the globe including the “extremely well regarded and incredibly well connected” Brian Lacy, who is ranked and noted for his “expertise based abroad”. A “superb strategist”, Brian, according to clients, “is charm and brilliance personified. You want Brian leading any litigation team”.

Ranked partners from the BVI-based team include “superb operator” Nicholas Brookes and “top lawyer” Nicholas Burkill.

The “fiercely bright” Nicholas Brookes has a “keen eye for detail” and “has superb client management skills”. He is described as “exceptional to work with, a complete class act” who “is always there for his clients”.

Meanwhile, Nicholas Burkill is commended as “an ingenious strategist who is unflappable and charming”. He is noted for his “unrivalled knowledge of the BVI court system and offshore commercial litigation”.

Joining the rankings for the first time are the “meticulous and incredibly supportive” Sarah Latham and the “very hard-working" Sarah Thompson.

Sarah Latham, who was promoted to partner last year, has been ranked Up and Coming with clients describing her as a “true litigator” noting how she “manages multiple pieces of international, high-value litigation with ease”.

The “always keen and upbeat” Sarah Thompson has “developed a real feel for local court practice and the law in the BVI, which makes her ideal for offshore disputes”.

Ogier continues to excel in the Chambers Global Guide, receiving recognition not only in the BVI but across its global network of offices.

Within the 2026 edition, Ogier was ranked in 20 departments – spanning the Caribbean, Europe and Asia Pacific – with 77 lawyers receiving individual rankings.
