Ogier is sponsoring tomorrow's 2016 Guernsey Insurance Forum event in London focussing on innovation and growth in the insurance sector.

The event comes just a week after Ogier's Guernsey team moved up a tier in the Legal 500 ratings for Insurance Services, and Bryon Rees – described as a "key insurance partner" in the directory – is attending.

Tomorrow's event, titled "Future stars - Where next for the (re)insurance market?", is expected to cover developments in reinsurance, engineering longevity risk and innovation drivers in the sector, and features two panel sessions to be moderated by ITV News presenter Alastair Stewart.

Ogier's Guernsey team have acted on significant deals in the insurance sector in recent years, including the £5.6 billion acquisition of Friends Life by Aviva and a £16 billion longevity risk transfer transaction by the Prudential Insurance Company of America.

Bryon said: "Guernsey is the leading captive insurance domicile in Europe, but this is a sector where innovation is crucial, and this is a great opportunity to get so many of the leading industry participants together at once.

"It is also encouraging that the Guernsey Financial Services Commission is supporting the event and that there is a speaker from the Commission on one of the panel discussions.  Innovation in financial services requires co-operation between the industry, regulators and government, and the presence of the GFSC is a welcome demonstration that this is an area that the regulator is taking a constructive approach to."
