Ogier's Jersey property team in a league of its own for second year running in Chambers UK guide

News

29 November 2017

Jersey

For the second year running, independent legal directory Chambers and Partners has ranked Ogier's Jersey team as the only team of offshore property, planning and construction lawyers and conveyancers to merit a top-tier rating.

Described as a "market-leading property team" with "notable expertise in planning, leasing and property investment", the profile lists the team's recent highlights including advising Castle Properties on the planning aspects of its £50 million redevelopment of the former BOA Warehouse site in St Helier, and acting on the £118 million purchase of The Liberation Group by Caledonia Investments.

Jonathan Hughes, Head of Ogier's Local Legal Services team , is described as a "very knowledgeable problem solver". His expertise in significant commercial property transactions is noted.

Chris Renouf's wealth of experience in commercial leases, land acquisitions, residential property transactions and property finance is recognised in the guide. Chris is one of only two practitioners working in the Island to merit "Senior Statesman" status.

Managing associate Katherine Marshall is described as "approachable, efficient and always prompt in dealing with matters." She regularly assists clients, including international banking groups, with acquisitions and financings.

Ogier's full service Property, Planning and Construction law team in Jersey acts for buyers, sellers, developers and financiers, providing advice on the purchase, sale or lease of commercial and residential properties located on the island. The Commercial Property team is well known for executing some of the largest and most complex commercial property transactions with accuracy and speed, providing a responsive, constructive and commercially aware client service for large and small businesses. The team works for local landlords, tenants, developers and financiers as well as institutional investors of international repute.

Jonathan Hughes, Head of Ogier's Local Legal Services, said:

"We are very pleased to have received this recognition from Chambers and Partners for the second year running.

"Our Jersey and pan-Channel Island property team continues to go from strength to strength and we're delighted that the breadth and depth of our expertise has been reflected with a top tier rating."

The ranking was announced in the leading legal commentator's 2018 guide, published earlier this month.
