Background and experience
Alex has a broad corporate and corporate finance practice. His areas of expertise include public and private M&A, real estate, private equity and borrower-side financing work.
In recent years, Alex has developed a significant public M&A practice focused on the natural resources sector. Alex has acted for the target in three major Jersey schemes of arrangement, including Arcadium Lithium's US$6.7 billion buyout by Rio Tinto (Link: Ogier advises Arcadium Lithium in its $6.7bn buyout | Ogier).
Alex also has significant experience in commercial real estate, advising on the establishment and financing of Jersey Property Unit Trusts and other property holding vehicles. He has many long-standing clients in this sector and is also active in real estate M&A work, acting for both for buyers and sellers.
Prior to joining Ogier in 2019, Alex was an associate in the tax group at Slaughter and May in London. He maintains an interest in corporate tax and continues to advise clients on Jersey economic substance matters.
Alex studied Political Science at Yale University, graduating in 2014. As part of his degree course, Alex spent the 2012-13 academic year at Pembroke College, Oxford, reading History and Politics. He completed his GDL and LPC at BPP Law School.
