Catja Carrell

Catja is an associate in Ogier's Private Wealth team in Guernsey and she advises high-net-worth families, trusts, estates and family offices in relation to tax and succession planning and private wealth matters. Catja has a particular interest in structuring and implementing annual gifting and planned gifting strategies.

Background and experience

Before joining Ogier in 2024, Catja was a tax associate at the London office of a large US law firm, advising on US and international tax planning for individuals, trusts and estates. As legal officer at a Guernsey trust company, she has also assisted various companies and investment firms with the management of trust and corporate structures.

Catja has been a guest speaker at a number of industry events, presenting on topics ranging from fraud and financial crime (from a private wealth perspective) to tax and estate planning and the application of the EU Succession Regulation. Her published work includes The Foreign Fiduciary as Global Homeowner, which featured in STEP Journal.

Catja completed her undergraduate education at Dartmouth College where she graduated cum laude. After earning a law degree from Boston College Law School, she went on to receive an LLM in Taxation from New York University.

Catja is licensed to practice in Connecticut and Massachusetts. She is fluent in German.
