Cayman Islands' removal from FATF grey list confirmed

The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has confirmed that the Cayman Islands will be removed from its 'grey list', recognising that the Cayman Islands has a robust and effective regime for anti-money laundering / counter-terrorist financing / countering the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

The announcement from the FATF follows a determination, made in June 2023, that the Cayman Islands had substantially completed all of the recommended actions set out in the FATF's action plan for the jurisdiction and the successful completion of an on-site inspection to verify that the implementation of the relevant AML/CFT/CPF reforms had begun and were being sustained.

Press release

A statement from the Cayman Islands Ministry of Financial Services can be found in its related press release.

For further information concerning the above matters, please contact your usual Ogier attorney or any of the contacts listed in this briefing.
