Investment funds partner Kate Hodson has been named Offshore Lawyer of the Year by the Women in Business Law Awards 2022 APAC.
The awards recognise leading women for their contributions to the practice of business law and are the culmination of months of research, drawing on client feedback throughout the APAC region.
It is the latest accolade for Kate, who is a partner in Ogier’s Hong Kong team and the firm's Head of ESG (Legal). Earlier this year, she was named a 'Rising Star - Partner' by IFLR1000, and included in Asian Legal Business's list of the region's most distinguished offshore lawyers, the ALB Offshore Client Choice List 2022. In addition, Kate was named in Asia Business Law Journal's prestigious list of Top 50 Offshore Lawyers 2022.
"Kate has an intimate knowledge of the law and a thorough understanding of the investment funds market in the region. More than that, however, is her ability to put herself in a client's shoes and offer clear, concise advice on the most complex of matters. It's fantastic that her talent has been recognised by this year's Women in Business Law Awards," said Hong Kong practice partner Nicholas Plowman.
In 2020, Kate launched Ogier's Sustainable Investment and Impact Funds practice, which works with asset managers, corporates and investors looking to incorporate environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors into their operations and investment processes, as well as those looking to achieve sustainability outcomes or impact.
Also a member of Ogier's multi-disciplinary Private Equity team, Kate advises GPs and fund managers on the establishment and structuring of private equity funds and hedge funds as well as advising LPs on their fund investments. She is also one of a small group of offshore lawyers with a significant practice in Japan.
