Ogier wins Offshore Law Firm of the Year at ALB Hong Kong Law Awards 2023

Ogier has been named Offshore Law Firm of the Year at the Asian Legal Business Hong Kong Law Awards 2023.

The ALB Hong Kong Law Awards is one of the longest-running and most prestigious legal awards in Asia and recognises the exceptional performance of private practitioners and in-house counsel in Hong Kong and across the region.

Ogier won in recognition of the firm’s growth in Hong Kong and the wider Asia region, the breadth and strength of its services, and its work on significant industry deals and cases.

“This is a fantastic achievement for our team in Hong Kong and it is a testament to the hard work and expertise of our teams across our service lines, which continue to grow, innovate and offer outstanding client service," said Hong Kong practice partner Nicholas Plowman.

Recent high profile examples of the firm’s work include representing DCP Capital, Ocean Link and Rick Yan in a US$5.7 billion take-private of US listed company 51job transaction (which won Deal of the Year - loan category at the IFLR Asia-Pacific Awards 2023), and acting as the British Virgin Islands Counsel for DRB in the application to appoint joint provisional liquidators and winding up application against Three Arrows Capital Limited (one of the most important events in the crypto financial market, which was caused by extreme fluctuations in the cryptocurrencies market in 2022).

This is the latest accolade for Ogier’s Hong Kong team, which was named one of Asia's Top 15 ESG Law Firms 2023 by ALB, and had four leading partners feature in ALB’s list of the region's most distinguished offshore lawyers – investment funds partner Nicholas Plowman, investment funds partner Lin Han, Global head of Corporate Nathan Powell, and Anthony Oakes, head of Banking and Finance in Hong Kong.

Kate Hodson, partner and Ogier’s head of ESG (legal), was also named Investment Funds Lawyer of the Year at Women in Business Law Awards 2023 APAC and the firm is shortlisted for best offshore firm at the HFM Asian Services Awards 2023, which will take place on 27 September.
