David Welford

Overview

David is a partner in Ogier's BVI Dispute Resolution team and a barrister with broad experience of commercial and financial disputes, with a focus on cross-border company, trusts and insolvency matters. He has extensive advocacy experience before the BVI Commercial Court and the Court of Appeal.
  • Background & experience

    Since moving to the BVI in 2014, David has been involved in some of the largest and most complex matters before the BVI Courts. He has particular experience of interim remedies including asset freezing, disclosure and receivership orders, especially in the context of multi-jurisdictional disputes.

    David joined Ogier in June 2020 from another offshore firm's Dispute Resolution and Insolvency team. Previously, David practised at the Commercial Chancery Bar in London, he remains a door tenant at Selborne Chambers. Before coming to the law he worked as a corporate finance analyst at Perella Weinberg Partners in London. He studied Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Pembroke College Oxford, where he took a first.

    David has been featured in Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners.
