Restructuring and corporate recovery experts Jennifer Fox and Gemma Lardner have been awarded Attorney of the Year and Next Gen of the Year in the annual peer-voted RISA awards.

A member of INSOL, RISA in the Cayman Islands – the Recovery and Insolvency Specialists Association – is a not-for-profit which promotes the strengths of the sector, encourages collaboration and communication and benefits the Cayman community through charitable pursuits.

The annual RISA Awards recognise a significant contribution to the insolvency profession of the Cayman Islands. In receiving the awards Jennifer and Gemma are recognised to have played a major role in high profile insolvency and restructuring cases in the Cayman Islands in the past year and made major contributions to the promotion and development of the insolvency profession in the jurisdiction.

Jennifer was awarded Attorney of the Year following her work in relation to the Abraaj NPEF IV litigation and the Kuwait Port Fund case. She is also actively involved on the RISA Members and Communications sub-committee, and is a champion for diversity and inclusion within Ogier and the broader Cayman insolvency industry, including as a member of the local IWIRC network board. Over the past year, she has also regularly published articles and spoken on numerous industry panels locally, virtually and in Dubai on fraud, insolvency and restructuring, and fund disputes involving Cayman Exempted Limited Partnerships.

Gemma Lardner was recognised as the inaugural Next Gen insolvency professional following a very strong year in which she was involved in and appeared as an advocate in the Grand Court, including against leading lawyers, in relation to numerous insolvency matters ranging from winding up petitions, to provisional liquidations, to schemes of arrangement. She has also published widely on important areas of Cayman Islands insolvency and restructuring law and is an active member of the local IWIRC network in her capacity as Events Director.

Head of Restructuring and Corporate Recovery at Ogier, Mathew Newman said: "We are delighted to offer congratulations to Jennifer and Gemma on their RISA award wins. At Ogier, we are proud to not only attract top tier talent, but to also nurture it. Both Jennifer and Gemma are rising stars, and these awards highlight how their hard work and dedication has been recognised by their peers."
