James Hewlett

James is an associate in both Ogier's Corporate and Funds and Banking and Finance teams, where he advises a variety of financial institutions, companies and funds on a wide range of banking, derivatives, corporate, private equity, finance, restructuring and regulatory matters, typically of a multi-jurisdictional nature.

Background and experience

James is part of art of Ogier's multi-disciplinary Private Equity team.  Focusing primarily on banking and finance and corporate advisory matters, James also has experience in fund formation and capital raising and advising on ongoing fund operations including regulatory compliance.

James graduated from James Cook University in 2017 with a double major in History and Political Science, and since joining Ogier as a paralegal in the Banking and Finance team completed both the Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course with Commendation. Following the completion of his studies in 2021 James undertook his period of recognised training through Ogier's SRA approved trainee programme, and qualified as a English solicitor in June 2023.
