Ogier in Guernsey achieves six top tier rankings in latest Legal 500 UK

Ogier in Guernsey has been ranked top tier across six core services in the latest Legal 500 UK directory, including Banking and Finance, Commercial Property, Private Client, Trusts and Tax, Capital Markets, Corporate and M&A, and Dispute Resolution.

Described in the 2022 directory as the "go-to team for modern day legal services," and a "very forward thinking firm," Ogier in Guernsey has 16 lawyers who have achieved individual rankings and a further 13 noted as key lawyers.

The Banking and Finance team has been praised for its "solution-driven" service. Christopher Jones and Marcus Leese have been recognised as Leading Individuals, while Paul Chanter has maintained his Next Generation Partner status. Bryon Rees is recognised as a key lawyer.

Ogier's Commercial Property practice is described as an "Extremely approachable team of commercially-savvy lawyers who know the market place and the legal issues better than anyone." The "simply brilliant" Martyn Baudains, who leads the team,  is ranked in the Hall of Fame and is assisted by Rising Stars Piers Dereham and Martin Casas, who is "responsive and easy to work with."

Matt Guthrie from Guernsey's "highly specialised and client-focused" Private Wealth team has been ranked a Leading Individual, with his appointment earlier this year described as "a major coup for the team." Also from Private Wealth, Catherine Moore has been elevated to Next Generation Partner, Gavin Ferguson maintains his Hall of Fame status, and Chris Hards is a key lawyer and "a go-to" for international pensions matters.

From the Capital Markets team, Charlotte Brown and Michelle Watson Bunn have been recognised as key lawyers.

For his work in Corporate and M&A, Bryon Rees is ranked a Leading Individual and described as "an excellent lawyer who thinks carefully and has great client service." Charlotte Brown, who is "approachable, pragmatic and helpful" is ranked a Rising Star, while Tim Clipstone, Richard Doyle and William Schofield are named as key lawyers.

Ogier’s Dispute Resolution team is described a "formidable force in Guernsey," with Mathew Newman ranked as a Leading Individual. He is described as an "outstanding lawyer; very capable indeed." Simon Davies retains his status in the Hall of Fame, while  Bryan De Verneuil-Smith is ranked a Next Generation Partner, with Alex Horsbrugh-Porter, Sandie Lyne and Michael Rogers noted as key lawyers.

Rising Star Rachel DeSanges is head of Employment in Guernsey and is praised for "the very best client service," while Sandie Lyne, Kellie Sherwill, Fay Warrilow and Charlotte Ward are noted as key lawyers in this team.

From Ogier's "deep, dedicated and very knowledgeable" Investment Funds team, Bryon Rees maintains his Leading Individual ranking. Gabrielle Payne (née Saul) is named a key lawyer.
