Described by clients as having “some of the best talent in the BVI”, Ogier’s British Virgin Islands team has received strong recognition in the Legal 500 Caribbean 2027 guide, with both emerging and established talent recognised.

Ranked across six practice areas, a total of 19 individuals have been named for their expertise in BVI law, including seven Leading Partners and two new Next Generation Partners. For the first time, Michael Killourhy has been named a Leading Partner across four key practice areas.

BVI practice partner Nicholas Brookes said: "The latest Legal 500 Caribbean recognition showcases our BVI team’s strong technical knowledge and innovation.

"Our transactional and litigation specialists consistently provide novel yet practical solutions for our clients, and this is clearly reflected in the testimonials we have received this year. Congratulations to the team for their well-deserved praise."

Ogier remains top tier in both the dispute resolution and regulatory and compliance categories.

Clients consider Ogier's BVI Dispute Resolution team to have "unmatched experience with those 'bet the farm' cases". In a team “filled with high-quality lawyers” and praised for its “tremendous worldwide research”, Brian Lacy, Nicholas Brookes and Nicholas Burkill retain their Leading Partner status. Alexander Muksinov is a Leading Associate and Sarah Thompson, Sarah Latham, Romauld Johnson and Emily Rivett are key lawyers.

Spotlighted in the guide for their regulatory and compliance expertise, fintech expert and chair of the newly formed Virgin Islands Virtual Asset Association Michael Killourhy is a Leading Partner, while Stuart Fee receives fresh recognition as a Next Generation Partner. Key lawyers Marie-Claire Fudge and Simon Schilder are also highlighted.

Ogier's "highly technically capable, responsive, commercial, and cost-efficient" Investment Funds team earns a sweep of fresh recognition. While Simon Schilder retains his Leading Partner status, Michael Killourhy, Marie-Claire Fudge and Alexandra Jones are newly named as Leading Partner, Next Generation Partner and Leading Associate, respectively. Stuart Fee is recognised as a key lawyer.

In the banking, finance and capital markets category, Ogier's transactional experts are an "exceptionally responsive team" singled out for their "full-service capability". Michael Killourhy and Christian Burns-Di Lauro are named as Leading Partners and Holly Chapman as a Leading Associate. Stuart Fee, Annabel Bishop and Leah Caprani are also named as key lawyers in the guide.

Michael Killourhy "leads an excellent corporate practice" and is a Leading Partner in the corporate and commercial category, while Stuart Fee, Annabel Bishop and Holly Chapman are key lawyers. Clients praise Ogier's corporate specialists for "their ability to get into the detail of complex issues and work through them carefully, while still keeping sight of the practical outcome required".

In foreign-based expertise, Richard Bennett is recognised as a Leading Partner and Hannah Diss a Leading Associate. Both based in Ogier's London office, they are commended for their skill in matters involving BVI law.
