Clients praise Ogier's outstanding commercial awareness in Chambers UK 2026 guide

Ogier's "top notch" teams across the Channel Islands and London "provide precise advice and outstanding service and commitment", according to the Chambers UK 2026 Guide. 

The firm has been ranked in 11 practice areas across its Channel Islands and London offices, including eight top-tier rankings, with 47 individual lawyers named as leaders in their field.

Ogier’s industry specific expertise has been highlighted across multiple categories. According to clients, Ogier has "the sort of lawyers you really want on your team," and are the "market leaders in commercial awareness".

Ogier in Jersey is ranked top tier across the board: Corporate and Finance, Dispute Resolution, Employment, Investment Funds, Property and Trusts. The Guernsey team is recognised for Corporate and Finance, including Investment Funds, as well as Property, Dispute Resolution and Trusts. There is also a new ranking for Ogier in London, with the firm recognised in the British Virgin Islands and Cayman Islands Law category.

Recognition for Ogier in Jersey

Ogier’s Dispute Resolution team "can assimilate an enormous amount of material in a short space of time". The rankings single out partners Damian Evans, James Angus, Nick Williams, Oliver Passmore and Rebecca McNulty for recognition and names Ogier's global managing partner Ed Mackereth as an "Eminent Practitioner" and associate Matthew Davies as an "Associate to Watch". 

In the Trusts category, Ogier's experts are "uniformly excellent technically, pragmatically and on client service". Partners Henry Wickham, James Campbell and Josephine Howe are ranked for their expertise in Trusts, while partner Steve Meiklejohn is listed as a "Senior Statesperson". 

Of Ogier’s Jersey Property team, client feedback says "Ogier is quick to understand client priorities and we receive full service solutions both within the Jersey jurisdiction and outside. The team quickly identify all commercial aspects of transactions". Partners Jonathan Hughes and Katharine Marshall are recognised, while managing associate Sarah Parish is listed as a "Star Associate" and consultant Chris Renouf is ranked in the "Senior Statespeople" category.

Head of Channel Islands Employment and Immigration Will Austin-Vautier is ranked for his Employment expertise, with the guide saying his team "use their individual wisdom and collective cognition and are a very attuned team, commercially".

The Investment Funds team has "first-class knowledge of Jersey fund structuring". Partners Emily Haithwaite, Niamh Lalor and Sophie Reguengo are all ranked, while partner Alexandra O'Grady has been named as an "Associate to Watch" and Matt McManus is listed as" Up and Coming". 

According to feedback, the Banking and Finance team "consistently demonstrates an exceptionally high level of legal knowledge, tempered with a deep understanding of international finance, resulting in reliably astute and commercial advice". Partners Bruce MacNeil and Kate McCaffrey are ranked, with the latter named "Up and Coming". 

Ogier’s Corporate / M&A advisers are "strong, pragmatic and solutions-orientated". Partners Alexander Curry, James Fox, Matthew Shaxson, Raulin Amy, Richard Daggett and Simon Dinning are all recognised for their expertise in this area.

Recognition for Ogier in Guernsey 

Ogier’s Dispute Resolution team in Guernsey "stand out for their ability to think outside the box, seamless teamwork and deep technical knowledge" according to the guide, which adds that "their strategic thinking consistently delivers creative and effective solutions". Partners Alex Horsbrugh-Porter, Bryan de Verneuil-Smith, Mathew Newman, Sandie Lyne and Simon Davies are ranked, while managing associate Heidi Sandy is a "Star Associate". 

In the Corporate and Finance, including Investment Funds category, Chambers says the team "absolutely have the bench strength to handle all questions and they have strong expertise in funds". There is individual recognition for partners Bryon Rees, Christopher Jones, Paul Chanter and Richard Sharp. 

Feedback on the Trusts team highlights that "complexity is never a drama for Ogier. The team has seen it all". Partners Matt Guthrie and Catherine Moore are recognised, while partner Chris Hards is listed as "Up and Coming". 

The Property team provides "consistently well-considered advice and timely execution, both with a user-friendly approach and excellent service". Martyn Baudains' ranking is supplemented by an "Associate to Watch" ranking for consultant MartĂ­n Casas. 

Consultant Rachel DeSanges has been recognised for her expertise as a "practical and experienced lawyer who provides very sound advice" in the Employment category.

Recognition for Ogier in London 

The London office has been ranked in the British Virgin Islands and Cayman Islands Law category thanks to feedback such as "apart from being smart and internationally well-versed lawyers, the teams at Ogier are extraordinarily responsive, structured and hard-working". Partners Jeremy Snead and Richard Bennett are both recognised for their particular expertise in Cayman Islands law with one client saying they "always come back to them because they are the best. They are efficient, proactive and comprehensive".
